Colo-Cation is 7 years old today. Thank you to all of our customers that have made our business a success.
Data Center

Colo-Cation.com is located at The Nap of the America's, which is the fifth Tier-1 Network Access Point in the world. A building designed and built from the ground up specifically to link the Americas to the rest of the world.

Nap of the Americas

The facility is directly adjacent to the FEC railway with 24 fiber providers and is strategically located close to major carrier Points of Presence (POPs) and eight worldwide undersea cable landings which maximize connectivity by proximity.

Our network was engineered with reliability in mind. From our location at Terremark's Nap of the America's to our connections with multiple bandwidth providers to our fully meshed network which feeds into our aggregate network, we've spared no expense to have a completely reliable network.

We use redundant Cisco hardware both on our borders and our aggregate network. Every machine is connected via 100 Base T Full Duplex connections served via Fiber to our borders. We've engineered the machines to serve data quickly and we think it shows.

Why Us?
  • We're able to bring in equipment to meet your requirements and custom engineer solutions
  • Multiple carriers (Cable and Wireless, Sprint, UUnet, Genuity, AT&T, Qwest, Level3, Global Crossing, Cogent)
  • Performance Optimization - Managed via software that continually checks to see what networks are the fastest
  • Internap's PNAP technology automatically selects the best providers and routes every 30 seconds
  • Highly Redundant network infrastructure
  • Housed in Carrier-Class provider-rich facilities
  • Automated route control system

Facilities
  • Dual Independent Power Feeds
  • Chilled water facility shared with Government facilities
  • 160,000 gallons of Diesel Fuel for generator, Fuel contracts guarantee delivery every 8 hours during an outage. This equates to 35 days of on-site fuel storage.
  • Facility was designed from the ground up specifically to connect the Americas to the rest of the world
  • Rooftop has windscreens, 8" of structural concrete, multiple layers of rubber membrane, and 12 million pounds of concrete ballast.
  • Pan and Tilt Cameras throughout with 100% coverage. Key card and biometric access.
  • Ramming Bollards to prevent intrusions via vehicles
  • Caged Car-traps and man-traps at every entrance
  • Security Guards continually walking throughout the facility. ID required at all times
  • Power Distribution equipment, Six Backup Generators -- only two are required to fulfill the power requirements, HVAC units and Fire Suppression systems guarantee 100% facilities uptime.

Why didn't we build our own facility?
Like you, we want to specialize in what we do best. Managing a data center, bringing connectivity to our location, and being located in a facility retrofitted to be a data center takes time to manage. Along with that comes the requirement to negotiate with other vendors for fuel delivery contracts, fiber capacity, right of way engineering, generator maintenance and bandwidth delivery issues.

We focus on managing our piece of the data center and leave most of the other issues to our provider. Its more expensive for us, but, we feel it is worth it.

Why not just outsource?
When there is a machine problem, resellers are at the end of the queue just like a normal client. Sometimes resellers are actually put behind Wholesaler's direct clients based on profitability. Can you afford to be at the end of the service chain wth your business?

While they can offer cheaper prices, we don't beleive they can offer competitive network management and diagnostic skills. You want the people that know what they are doing to be there when things go wrong. We're there.
